Project Sunrise delivered a Cultural Competency Training workshop for CoHealth in January 2026 — part of our capacity building and secondary consults program.
In January 2026, Project Sunrise delivered a cultural competency and capacity building workshop for the team at CoHealth — one of Victoria's leading community health services. This training is part of our Secondary Consultation and Cultural Training program, designed to improve the cultural responsiveness of mainstream AOD and health services.
The workshop equipped CoHealth workers with a deeper understanding of African Australian community values, the cultural barriers that can prevent young people from seeking help, and practical strategies for delivering culturally safe care to clients of African heritage.
By investing in the cultural competency of mainstream service providers, Project Sunrise multiplies its impact — ensuring that young people receive culturally informed support wherever they turn for help, not just within our own program.
This engagement is one of several capacity building sessions Project Sunrise has delivered as part of our commitment to systemic change in how Victoria's health sector serves African Australian communities.
