Africa Day commemorates the founding of the Organisation of African Unity on 25 May 1963 — a day that continues to celebrate African culture, unity, and progress worldwide. The 62nd Annual Africa Day Gala Dinner in Melbourne brought together hundreds of community members, leaders, and organisations.
Project Sunrise participated as both a proud African-led initiative and as an opportunity to connect with community members, raise awareness about culturally safe AOD services, and celebrate the strength and resilience of African Australian communities in Victoria.
Our presence at events like the Africa Day Gala is central to our community-first approach — meeting people where they are, building relationships of trust, and ensuring young people know that support is available when they need it.
